Introducing Alchemai: data-driven building decarbonisation

What is Alchemai? Alchemai is an Innovate UK-funded project focused on decarbonisation through advanced building data analysis. Spanning 18 months with approximately £2.5 million in funding, its primary goal was to develop a product that analyses building data to provide actionable recommendations for decarbonisation.

A Collaborative Powerhouse

This isn't a one-company show. Alchemai is a true partnership, bringing together a diverse group of experts to tackle a complex challenge. Our key collaborators include:

• Atamate Building Intelligence: Providing the cutting-edge atBOS sensing equipment that gathers all the crucial data.
• Built Environment - Smarter Transformation: Our project managers, who are also building owners contributing test sites.
• Bassetlaw District Council: A key partner providing 11-12 test buildings across central England.
• RE24: Energy trading specialists who've brought a test building into the fold.
• Elemental Power : The brains behind the operation, developing the "engine" that crunches the data and generates our recommendations.
• Holosphere : Using gaming engines to create stunning, interactive 3D visualisations and drone surveys of the buildings.
• BT: Passive house consultants offering deep expertise in building fabric and construction.

Atamate's unique atBOS system is at the heart of the data collection. It uses wireless Bluetooth 5.0 mesh technology to securely and efficiently monitor conditions in our diverse range of test buildings—all without the need for additional wiring.

Why Does This Matter?

As Atamate's Josh Shimmin notes, buildings are instrumental in how we consume energy. The Alchemai project goes beyond just collecting data. It's about using that data to make buildings better: more efficient, healthier, and truly sustainable. We're moving from guesswork to a data-driven approach that will empower building owners to make smarter choices for their future.
